Our client, a leading retail chain dedicated to providing quality products at affordable prices, is seeking a highly organized and efficient Fleet Controller to join their Supply Chain team at the Head Office.

Reports to: Transport Manager
Direct Reports: Indirect Reporting line for Traffic Clerk, Drivers, Riders, Co-drivers, Store Deliveries
Job Purpose
To ensure all transportation requirements are executed in a controlled, timely manner and within the cost budget. The Fleet Controller is responsible for the efficient coordination of delivery and collection schedules to maximize resource utilization and maintain high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and Scheduling: Plan and maintain schedules for all delivery and collection works, tracking actual performance versus plan and revising as necessary to achieve a 95% on-time arrival rate.
- Resource Management: Ensure the right number of vehicles are available to achieve the workload and route them effectively to minimize fuel consumption.
- Operational Execution: Allocate daily work to assigned drivers to ensure full coverage and manage the workflow through driver briefings and end-of-shift debriefs.
- Compliance and SOPs: Ensure all work adheres to laid down Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manage non-compliance through established HR procedures.
- Communication: Maintain timely communication regarding exceptions, such as delays or changes, with delivery and picking points.
- Financial Oversight: Track fuel spend and monitor transport costs per delivery to align with the budget.
Required Competencies and Experiences
- Education: Bachelor’s degree level (Essential).
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in transport management (Essential).
- Professional Qualification: Certification from the Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is an added advantage.
- Industry Expertise: Proven experience in Transport Operations (including Trucks, Planes, or Trains) managing a fleet of more than 20 vehicles.
- Customer Care: Exceptional skills in both Business-to-Business (B2B) and public-facing customer care environments.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent communication skills in both English and Swahili.
- Admin and Reporting: Strong competency in Administration & Reporting to support timely decision-making.

- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Traffic Act and its application.
- People Management: Ability to supervise staff and lead diverse teams of drivers and clerks.
- Financial Literacy: Competency in finance and accounting literacy related to transport costs and fuel tracking.
- Software Proficiency: Strong computer and software skills.
- Operational Excellence: Proven ability to meet KPIs such as 100% ESG compliance and optimized accidents-per-kilometer ratings.

Working Conditions
