RDA SCIENTIST -UGANDA ( Savoury & Beverage)

Job Summary

This role entails managing the innovation portfolio across various technology groups, aligning with customer needs, and driving product development to exceed expectations. The Senior Manager will lead a team, evaluate the existing product portfolio, and contribute to the regional RD&I strategy to ensure excellence in research and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute active projects to meet strategic growth targets.
  • Lead the innovation portfolio across technology groups, aligning with customer needs and driving product development.
  • Evaluate the existing product portfolio, recommending enhancements for best-in-category products.
  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to select and prioritize projects that add value to the company’s customers.
  • Allocate resources and track project progress relative to milestones and launch dates.
  • Build and develop the RD&I team through hiring, coaching, and training, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Keep abreast of leading-edge science to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in new product solutions.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain/Operations to support process improvements, business continuity, regulatory compliance, and productivity.
  • Act as a technical lead for select key accounts, ensuring consistency in service quality.
  • Contribute to the regional RD&I strategy and share a vision of excellence in R&D.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of work experience in RD&I leadership roles within the regulated food/ingredients industry.
  • Experience in office, laboratories, and production/processing environments.
  • Strong business performance management skills.
  • Understanding of the current market and customers.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence in a cross-functional environment.
  • Decisiveness and ability to adapt to changing business situations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of key competitors and regional activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for leading, motivating, and developing talent.
