About the role
To ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records through timely reconciliations, accurate transaction posting, statutory compliance, inventory accounting and effective resolution of financial discrepancies, while supporting month-end and year-end reporting in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly bank, GL, customer, supplier and intercompany reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve variances, unallocated funds and reconciling items.
- Prepare and post journal entries to correct errors and clear outstanding items.
- Post and allocate daily customer receipts, including WHVAT.
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Review and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
- Prepare monthly financial schedules and support financial statement preparation.
- Prepare and file PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, VAT, WHT, WHVAT, Installment Tax and other statutory returns.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and statutory requirements.
- Track and allocate import-related costs, including freight, duties, clearing and other applicable expenses.
- Support accurate valuation and reconciliation of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
- Investigate inventory and general ledger variances and coordinate resolution with relevant teams.
- Work with Procurement, Sales, Supply Chain, Stores and Production to resolve financial queries.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper audit trails.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
- CPA (K), ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
- 5-7 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
- Experience in reconciliations, statutory compliance, inventory accounting and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory requirements.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems; manufacturing ERP experience is an advantage.
- Strong Excel and financial data analysis skills.
